FINAL EXAM INFORMATION & DUE DATES
PART 1: DUE BY MONDAY DEC. 19TH @ End of class
1. PORTFOLIO ALBUM PROJECT:
Create a BOOK Portfolio featuring your artist statement, 9 Projects , 5 Warm Ups (of your choice) 14 photos total!
- Use Powerpoint and create a “presentation” using one of the provided Photo templates. You may use another application as long as you can export it as a
“movie” (MP4).
2. What to include in portfolio:
- Artist Statement
- 9 Project Photos:1 photo from each project listed to the right.
- 5 photos from your best warm-ups.
I. How to Start:
1. Open Powerpoint
2. Go to File - New from template - Presentation – Photo Album.
3. Choose the type of book you like best. I recommend Classic Photo Book.
4. Place all 10 projects in an event/album and your 5 warm ups. 18 Photos TOTAL. * You may add more if you like.
5. Include Project Title with the photo.
II. How to add your artist statement audio:
- In Powerpoint, choose “media” icon. Record audio.
-To add audio across slides: Click on speaker icon then go to “Format audio” on top menu bar.
III. How to save File & Submit to google classroom
1. Save as a powerpoint file: File-Save as
*Make sure you can open the file & it plays properly
2. SUBMIT Powerpoint file to School Loop under “Final Album
Portfolio”
Name File: last name first inital _portfolio.ppt
EX: nelsonb_portfolio.ppt
* If created in google slides:
-You can export as a powerpoint then in powerpoint save
1. Go to File – download as – choose powerpoint.
IV. Add your slideshow to your presentations page on your website.
-First you will have to save file as a movie: File-Save as movie
-Since it is an mpv4 file you will have to upload to youtube.
-Add “media” to your website and link your youtube file.

Part II: Written Exam - Day of Final

PART 2: Day of final exam:
1. Choose 2 of your classmate’s photos of the semester & critique them. Can be from members of your group or not. See class website spreadsheet for classmates website address’ where you can locate the photos. *Must be photos you have NOT critiqued yetJ
- For the 2 photos you have chosen to critique, describe in 5-8 sentences at least 2 strengths, your interpretation, and judgment of the photo. This means, using your photography technique and design vocabulary.
· Techniques: angles, depth of field (shallow/small or deep/large), aperture, worms eye view, birds eye view, framing, leading line, perspective, leading line, focal point, forced perspective,
· Design: contrast, patterns, lines (implied & actual), diagonals, texture, repetition, value, shapes, rule of thirds, vanishing point, negative/positive space.
· Styles/type: landscape, portraiture, abstract, photomontage, collage, macro
- You may use the sentence starters below or create your own sentences.

Example Critique:
What I find to be most appealing about this photograph is the way the photographer captured an interesting perspective that forces the eye to examine the photo from top to bottom, following the implied lines of the windows and actual lines of the sidewalk. Additionally, unity is created through not only the repetition of shapes, the windows, but also since there is continual strong contrast between the rectangular windows and off white color of the building.
When I look at this photograph it makes wonder if this is how the typical big city business man/woman feels as he/she is walking into work in the morning. If I had to guess as to why the photographer took this photo, it would have been to stress the confusion and monotony one person can feel by the repetition of the daily working life.

Preparing for Final
REVIEW OF HOW TO PREPARE FOR FINAL EXAM:
- Make sure to complete your Photography Portfolio Album (18 Photos total & Artist Statement). Turn it into school loop and post on the presentation page of your website
- Select ahead of time 2 of your strongest photos. These should be in your portfolio book. You will be allowed to be on your computer too look at your portfolio. Make sure you can describe and elaborate on the subject, setting, mood, and one element and one principle of art within each photo.
