WARM-UPS!

1. Take photo: 10-15 minutes
  • Use the designated area to photograph
•-Take at least 3 photos using the composition strategy.
  • You can make up any warm-ups you miss if absent. Talk with teacher:)

2. Upload and Edit Photo: 15-20 minutes
  • Upload to computer
  • Edit photo 
  • Save on desktop in warm ups folder
  • Add to your website under your Warm Ups page.

Warm Ups - In Class Practice of Photography Composition &  Technical Techniques 

1. Rule of Thirds:  8/17/16 

2. Line: Actual & Implied 8/24 (period 1)  or 8/25 (period 2)

1.Take at least 4 photos using the Line.
•2 actual line (1 fills the frame)
•2 implied line (1 fills the frame)

3. Depth of Field and Texture: 
     Wed 8/31 (period 1) Thurs 9/1 (period 2)

PART 1: Wed./Thurs. (In Class)

. Take a 4 photos of 4 different rough textures using a shallow depth of field.


  1. At least 2 different objects with ROUGH texture.
  2. Use a SHALLOW DEPTH OF FIELD, so more of the image is in focus allowing the textures to be emphasized.

*Distance from object effects the depth of field!


-Experiment with camera. Which mode/settings worked best for close ups (Landscape/Portrait)?

-If comfortable, you can try adjusting ISO, shutterspeed, and aperture. You can use the VSCO app. to do this. We will focus more on this in later classes.


Warm Up #3: Depth of Field using Pattern and Texture.

PART II. – Friday (In Class)


. Take a 4 photos of 4 different smooth textures using and shallow/small depth of field.


PART III: Friday (In Class)

Choose your best photo from part 1 or part 2 and add to your warm ups page of your web portfolio. Name it “Depth of Field and “Texture”.


4. Worms Eye View:  6 Photos    Tuesday, 9/20

5. Abstract Macro and Pattern:  4 Photos  

     Wed. 9/28 or Thurs. 9/29

 
I. Take photos of 4  different objects. 
     •The goal is to make an object less recognizable. No one should be able to guess what the object is!
     •Use a SHALLOW (focus on close object) depth of field.

II. Add your best photo to your web portfolio Warm Ups page.
     (72 resolution)

III. Save your completed Macro project worksheet in your Projects folder.
     -I will check these for credit on Friday in class. 

III. In your groups, choose and add your best (least recognizable) photo to the period slideshow:

     (2 Birds Eye  and 2 Worms  Eye)  10/7/16
     - Choose 1 photo as strongest example and save on  your website's warm ups page.

7. Positive and Negative space:  4 Photos

 2. Take 4 photos or more: 2 with more Positive space than negative space and 2 with more negative space than positive.        


 3. Choose your strongest photo & save on website's warm ups page.

8. Positive & Negative Shape Photogram - 2 prints    (Small group Activity - each group will create 2 prints)
  Tues, 11/1/16

-2 photogram prints: 1 with dominant positive space and 1 with dominant negative space.


-Use objects brought in and collected at school to create prints.

9. Forced Perspective - Your best example (photo you took not a group member)
    Wednesday, 11/16 (P.1) or Thurs., 11/17 (P.2)

-With your small group, using the graphic organizer on next page, brainstorm at least 3 ideas using 3 styles of forced perspective listed below as a, b, and c.
